Gordon Goodwin's Big Phat Band and Take 6: Benefit Concert

Winner of the 2015 Grammy Award for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album, Gordon Goodwin’s Big Phat Band joins — for the first time ever live — history’s most-awarded a cappella group, Take 6, for a benefit concert in support of Discovery Arts, which brings arts programs directly to children in hospitals. Made up of 18 of L.A.’s finest musicians, the Big Phat Band puts a contemporary spin on the big band tradition with a hard-charging, virtuosic style. And Take 6’s crystal-clear harmonies, funky grooves and innovative arrangements have garnered 10 Grammys for jazz, R&B and gospel performance. These two will be joined at Royce Hall at UCLA by vocalist Monica Mancini, Grammy-winning producer-musician Gregg Field and host Doug McIntyre (radio’s McIntyre in the Morning). There’s also an after-party featuring singer-songwriter Joanna Pearl with a silent auction and cash bar.
