Dvorák’s New World Symphony at Ambassador Auditorium (Pasadena, CA)

Pasadena Symphony Performs Dvorák’s New World Symphony

Ambassador Auditorium (Pasadena, CA)

Dvorák's New World Symphony

Dvorak’s Ninth Symphony was one of the first major works to incorporate American folk-music influences and it’s been wildly popular ever since its premiere in 1893. In fact, Neil Armstrong famously took a recording of it with him to the moon. Subtitled From the New World, it’s a masterpiece of the classical canon fusing folk tunes, eastern Europe rhythms and sounds from Dvorák’s native Bohemia. The Pasadena Symphony and guest pianist Bella Hristova will also perform Wagner’s Die Meistersinger: Prelude and Puts’ Violin Concerto. Arrive early for a pre-concert discussion at Ambassador Auditorium.
