Project Slut: End the Dress Code

Thursday, September 10 from 4-7pm

at the Chester Avenue Subway Station artist-run newsstand

Project Slut is an organization that was founded by 3 Toronto Teens. They successfully changed their school’s dress code in 2014. Dress codes negatively impact many students. They have existed in schools since the colonial creation of Canada. At the artist-run newsstand on September 10, Andrea Villanueva will present poetry, photography and a zine to address the many ways that dress codes, and how they are interpreted, police diverse people. There will also be an “END THE DRESS CODE” petition on site.

If you plan to take the TTC directly to Chester Station, there are approximately 30 stairs from the subway platform to the street level. There are escalators moving in an upward direction. Broadview Station 3 blocks west of Chester is accessible, as well as Pape Station 4 blocks east of Chester. The doors to Chester Station do not have push buttons, but we can have volunteers on doors to make sure they are propped open. Once you arrive at Chester Station, the newsstand kiosk is accessible – on ground/street level. Note that there are no public washrooms at Chester Station.
