Autobiographical solo show Catholic School Daze recounts writer-performer Karen Anzoategui’s tumultuous high school experiences. Forced to attend Catholic high school, Karen soon discovers her connection with and love for Christ — as well as her gender non-conforming proclivities. Forced to take the blame for an “act of lesbianism” in front of the whole school, and bullied by administrators and schoolmates alike, Karen must make difficult decisions to survive Catholic high school, even if it means becoming a “Catholic chola.” Expect surprise guests each night at this short run of Catholic School Daze at Human Resources LA.
