At least one of every three women in the world will be beaten, raped or otherwise abused during her lifetime. That shocking statistic from the United Nations is one of the reasons why Crooked Heart Theater created NoMoreFest, a collection of seven one-act and short plays, each of which tells a different, but all too similar story, exploring the emotional effects of domestic violence on individuals, families and communities. Staged at Hollywood’s Underground Theater Co. in recognition of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the show’s proceeds are set to benefit the organization Futures Without Violence.
