You probably wouldn’t assume a makeup artist would have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, but that’s just how legendary Rick Baker is. After receiving the first Oscar for Best Makeup, for An American Werewolf in London, Baker has gone on to be nominated 10 more times, winning seven. A wizard at bringing creatures to life, Baker worked on Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” video, Men in Black, The Nutty Professor and many more hits. This master craftsman will be dropping by the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica for a discussion with comedian Dana Gould, which will take place between screenings of two of Baker’s films: Tim Burton’s Ed Wood, starring Johnny Depp, and Harry and the Hendersons, with John Lithgow. Co-starring Martin Landau, in an Oscar-winning performance as Bela Lugosi, Ed Wood follows the titular director of ’50s sci-fi films and his troupe of actors. Harry and the Hendersons centers on a family who takes in Bigfoot after accidentally hitting him with their car.
