Everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, is coming to Santa Monica in the Tony-winning musical adaptation of the beloved animated film. Throwing just about every fairy tale ever told into a blender, Shrek The Musical comes out with a hip and funny mashup that follows a very unlikely hero from a faraway kingdom as he teams up with a wisecracking donkey and a feisty princess who’s nobody’s distressed damsel. Together — along with a cookie with some real attitude and over a dozen other familiar misfits — they’ll take on the short-tempered bad guy Lord Farquaad and save their fairy-tale kingdom. The merry musical mayhem gets underway at Morgan-Wixson Theatre.
