Author Event to Honor the 500 Young Men

Who Signed Up In Schoolhouse to Go To War

During the First World War, 500 young men from Little Trinity Church Sunday School went to the front to fight for Canada and the Empire. Before going, they signed up in the same Sunday School hall in the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, behind Little Trinity Church in Toronto’s Corktown.

On November 03, 2015 from 6:30 pm, author Ted Barris will address an audience at the same Schoolhouse hall to tell the story of the “Victory at Vimy”, the story of citizen soldiers from salt-of-the-earth communities across the Empire, melding into an army that would become known as the “shock troops” of the Allied expeditionary force.

Ted Barris’s telling of Victory at Vimy will be presented by the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse Foundation at the Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, 106 Trinity Street, Toronto M5A 3C6. General admission is $12.
