BIO:
Ewelina Ferenc is a singer born and grew up in Poland interested in traditional songs and methods of singing from all around the world. She discovers new places through music: hitchhiked in Balkans, Morocco and Georgia, lived in Ukraine, Slovakia and Belgium, travelled through India. To Canada brought her music and friends who are mostly local musicians and artists.
Matti Palonen is a Toronto musician and Luthier, specializing in the traditional Finnish Kantele. His primary musical interests are traditional European folk dances, and the oral history tradition of the Kalevala. Matti helped organize a kantele workshop led by Dr. Arja Kastinen in 2014, and led an advanced kantele workshop in 2015.
Cassie Norton is a violinist, multi-instrumentalist, improvisor, composer, singer
songwriter, performer and educator currently completing her masters in music composition at York University. She loves to explore many different types of music.
They all met in August 2015 in Grafton, Ontario on the Folk Camp organized by local artistic group called Kosa Kolektiv. During few jam sessions they decided to play and busk together and this is how Eastern European soul met Northern European and Canadian spirit. Music they play is an unusual combination of Eastern European songs sung by Ewelina, instrumental tunes far from the north played by Matti on traditional Finnish instrument called kantele and a violin tunes played by Cassie.
