Orpheum Theatre (Los Angeles, CA)
You know Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top and their classic songs “Legs” and “Sharp Dressed Man.” But you may not know that before Gibbons was rocking out with ZZ Top he was studying under “Mambo King” Tito Puente. Those lessons from Puente, along with collaborations with some of the industry’s best Afro-Cuban, Latin and Hip-Hop artists, inspired Gibbon’s debut solo album Perfectamundo, released in October. Now you can hear these new tracks, including a “Spanglish” version of Slim Harpo’s classic “I Got Love If You Want It” and an Afro-Cubanized take on the Lightnin’ Hopkins blues song “Baby, Please Don’t Go” when Gibbons and his band The BFG’s perform at the Orpheum Theatre in Los Angeles.
