THE FILM: Join us for the Toronto premiere of Lord Jones is Dead, a new South African/Canadian feature satirical comedy that follows rival newspaper journalists Samuel (Chad Krowchuk, Man of Steel), Vincent (Daniel Janks, Ali) and Clive (Jonathan Pienaar, Blood Diamond) staked out on a dead-end assignment who have to take matters in their own hands to get a story.

THE PANEL: Government Transparency and your Right to Know

An informed public is critical to a functioning democracy, but in Canada the public’s right to know is under threat.

What are the barriers to information access here in Canada? Why is it so difficult for Canadians to find out just what their government is doing? Who is being held accountable, and what are the implications for democracy? Featuring expert voices from the journalistic community, this panel will address some of these critical questions and provide first hand experience into navigating Canada's labyrinth of an access to information system.

Moderated by Michelle Shephard
