Alex Williams' investigative documentary reveals a shocking and little-known illegal policy of segregation in Canada, lasting over 60 years. Narrated by acclaimed actor and activist Tantoo Cardinal (Dances with Wolves, Legends of the Fall), it features Cree, Saulteaux, Dene, Ojibwe and Blackfoot Elders and their stories of living under and resisting the system, with music by Cris Derksen.
This screening is part of the Rutas Festival – Rutas.ca, and will be followed by a panel discussion of respected Elder Pauline Shirt, York PhD (History) candidate and Left History Editor Sara Howdle, and Director Alex Williams.
