When she made her debut in Anurag Kashyap’s unconventional take on Devdas, Dev D, people attached many aspirations with Mahie Gill. But soon her fame saw a downfall and she became yet another starlet who disappeared from B-town. But not the one to give up, she resurrected her career as an actress with the franchise Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster.
Mahie Gill has played the leading lady of this grey shaded franchise with her role as a seductress gaining attention. She has now finished shooting for the third installment, Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster 3 in Rajasthan in recently. She plays the role of a royal Queen who is vying for the attention of her husband but ends up becoming an alcoholic.
Before speaking up about Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, we came across reports of a candid interview by Mahie Gill where she spoke about all the phases of her life before and after Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster. After reading several articles on how filmmakers spot actresses in clubs, Mahie Gill tried a similar trick for her debut films. She did end up bagging the role of Paro in Dev D during a birthday bash she attended during her 20s.
Mahie went on to become an overnight star with this Anurag Kashyap directorial but fame did not gel well with her life. She soon saw her career graph falling downwards when her best friend cheated on her. Confessing these details to the media, Mahie further went on to speak on how she suffered depression and went on for over a year without signing films.
On the other hand, after the depression and slew of films, she decided to make a move of playing a supporting role in Dabangg. But this one backfired badly making her lose out on lead roles. Mahie Gill played the role of Arbaaz Khan’s love interest and later, his wife in Dabangg. Although the film was a raging success, the actress had to lose out on roles with some of them even dropping her out of their films, stating that she is not heroine material. However, despite that the actress decided to sign the second instalment when Arbaaz Khan requested her to do her role in the second film too. Mahie reasoned that the damage had already been done so she decided why not move forward with the film. As for Dabangg 3, the actress maintained that she is yet to be approached for the role.
Now coming back to the favourite film, Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster, let us tell you that Mahie was approached for the third installment when she was on bed rest. She was reportedly suffering from a back problem because of which she was asked to take necessary care. However, when producer Rahul Mittra came with the offer, she couldn’t resist it and Mahie Gill immediately jumped on the opportunity. We can expect the actress yet again to play as a seductress, only this time it will be crazier, more seductive and manipulative added the actress. From a thumkawala dance to a hot lovemaking scene with her Saheb, Jimmy Sheirgill, the film apparently has some interesting elements to look forward to.
The actress went on to assert her love for the franchise stating that while she will reprise the role of Maharani Madhavi Devi in this film too, she will be a part of the sixth instalment too whenever it gets made. She stated that she is ready to play the ‘Budhhi Biwi’ in the forthcoming instalments of the franchise.
Mahie Gill also turned producer with Punjabi films but has decided she wouldn’t be doing much of it anymore. She wants to shift attention to Hindi films. In fact, she is also on her way to produce a small time Hindi film.
On the acting front, Mahie believes that she has been typecast and hence has been only receiving offers for playing a seductress or characters based on nudity. The actress, however, clearly maintained that she would rather sit at home than do roles that make her cringe.
Not divulging details of her boyfriend, Mahie Gill maintained that she would like to credit all the balance she currently has in her life is because of him. She claimed that he likes to stay out of limelight. However, if she wins an award soon, she stated that she will be walking the red carpet with him.
Speaking on the love of her life, Mahie revealed that he owns hotels and casinos in Goa. Although he is generally travelling across the world, she maintained that they generally like to spend time in Goa where they both own properties.
