Though Oprah Winfrey’s chat show has ended last year, the lady is still the highest paid celebrity, as the Forbes magazine has annouced it this year. This is the fourth time, Oprah has topped the list of the highest paid celebs. It was last year, in May, that Oprah hosted her talk show from Chicago for the last time. And it was the 25th of May in 2011. But as the show has ended, she is clearly facing some stiff competition, as she won by only $5 million extra from the second highest paid celebrity, and this year she has earned $ 125 million less than her previous year’s earning.
When Dorothy Pomerantz, the chief of L.A. Bureau of Forbes was contacted, it was known as the show of Oprah, kept on repeating and re-telecasted, she got some extra money out of it. And right now,Oprah is earning money out of the other engagements like shows by Dr Phil and Oz, and show by Rachel Ray and also from a radio deal.
The film by Michael Bay was lambasted in the critics circle, but it managed to earn 1.1 billion dollars. Dorothy says Michael is a smart director as he got shares in the film’s gain as well as in the toy sales. Also from the Bumblebee sale, Michael earns a good deal of money. While director Steven Spielberg has proved with “War Horse” and “Adventures of Tintin” that he wants to make films which are critically acclaimed. Dorothy says that Spielberg is almost a permanent name in the top ten of the Forbes list. Not only does Spielberg earn money from the past films but gets a share from the sale of the tickets too.
Jerry Bruckheimer is also one of the highest paid celebs according to Forbes. He reaped millions of dollars with films like “Pirates of the Carribean : On Stranger Tides”, and the fourth part of the Disney film series.
