The State Deputy Governor Hussein Maar Nyuot has confirmed that the state government has deployed the soldiers to protect civilians whom he said are now vulnerable to external attacks.
The Jonglei State government has at the same time encouraged residents to engage in agricultural production in the rural areas in efforts to boost food security.
It has pledged to provide adequate security during the current rainy season to enable farmers cultivate their land.
“We have deployed joint forces across the eleven counties of Jonglei State to protect farmers. We have prioritised protection of civilians and agriculture this
year and we have already initiated two pilot agricultural projects in Waat and Warkok”, said Nyuot who is also the State Minister for Information and Communication.
Bor Dinka chiefs have complained that the Murle youth have not been completely disarmed, saying they can attack the disarmed communities any time.
The SPLA commander in charge of disarmament and peace Lieutenant General Kuol Diem Kuol told Gurtong that his forces are spread across the state to provide security.
“We are everywhere in Jonglei State. Our forces are adequately equipped and well prepared to respond to any external aggression.
