The faithful had been for the last three days learning and preparing new members who took their vows during mass that was held at the St Mary’s Yambio Parish.

Hundreds of christians renewed their faith while many others made a fresh vow and joined the Legion Maria group.

Speaking during the mass, His Lordship Edwardo Hiiboro Kussala advised the Christians to get matrimonies so as to have a responsible Christian family.

“This day is going to be a day of change of life between human, and God and also the holy sacrament”, said Hiiboro.

He asked the Christians present to be security conscious at all times and take proper care of their children in their respective homes.

The Bishop urged the immigration office to stop discriminating Western Equatoria State citizens in the process of acquiring their nationality in Juba adding that even foreigners need to be treated fairly.

“I have heard complains of harassment by the officials who have even nicknamed the Western Equatoria State communities as ‘wewe’, to mean foreigner”, he said.

He added that land locked countries like South Sudan can only proposer from having a good relationship with its neighbours.

The Assumption is a Catholic holy day celebrated on 15 August that commemorates the belief that Mary, the mother of Jesus, was taken into heaven.
