Charges have been filed against one suspect and are pending against another arrested in a fatal traffic accident on Enid at West Cavalcade about 2:30 a.m. on Sunday (Dec. 19).

One suspect, Germain Romero (H/m, DOB: 7-1-88), is facing a charge of driving while intoxicated. The other suspect, Patrick Balderas (H/m, DOB: 3-13-84), is charged with accident involving injury in the 182nd State District Court.

The identity of the deceased male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehiclular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Arnold and Officer D. Ashford reported:

Balderas was driving a black Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck westbound on West Cavalcade when his vehicle collided with a Honda Civic driven by Romero and traveling north on Enid. The front passenger in the Civic was killed by the impact. Romero was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital.

Balderas fled the scene on foot and was then seen entering a vehicle. He returned to his residence and reported his vehicle stolen. Hit and Run Unit investigators interviewed Balderas, who admitted he left the scene of the accident.
