Winnipeg woman tries to kill her children and sister

On June 3, 2010 at approximately 5:30 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the area of the 300 block of Kennedy Street regarding a stabbing incident.

Investigators have since learned that a 35 year old female was at home in company of her 2 children; 4 month old son, 9 year old son, including her 32 year old sister and her 4 month old daughter.

For unknown reasons, the 35 year old female allegedly stabbed her 4 month old son multiple times to the lower body. She then attended to her 9 year old son and stabbed him to the midsection. The 9 year old male subsequently fled the suite and notified security who then contacted emergency services.

The 32 year old female intervened when her sister made attempts to her assault her child. A struggle ensued at which time the 32 year old female was stabbed to the midsection. The 35 year old female was eventually disarmed and restrained until police arrival.

The infant child was conveyed to hospital in critical condition. The 9 year old male was conveyed to hospital in unstable condition. Both children are currently in stable condition. The 32 year old female was treated and released from hospital.

The 35 year female has been arrested and charged with the following offences: Attempted Murder x 3, Assault with a Weapon and Assault.

She has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
