The parent company of Sun News Network and the Sun Media newspaper chain, Quebecor, is expected to soon issue a formal apology to federal Liberal leader, Justin Trudeau, over an on-air outburst by columnist, Ezra Levant, earlier this month. Sources claim that Quebecor chairperson, Brian Mulroney, reached out to Liberal Party brass and assured of an apology soon.

During his Sun News program, The Source, on Sept. 15, Levant spoke blatantly against Trudeau for appearing in a wedding photo kissing the bride on the cheek. Levant stated that “Justin Trudeau thinks he’s in the movie Wedding Crashers, that sex comedy where slutty men go to weddings uninvited to bed the maids of honour. But even they had enough class to give the bride herself a pass.” Furthermore, he alleged that Trudeau’s father, former Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau, was a “slut” who “banged anyone” and mocked his mother Margaret in similar terms. In response to Levant’s comments, Trudeau vowed to boycott all employees of Sun News and Sun Media, including the non-partisan reporting staff.

Prior to this controversy, Levant previously also reported stated “well, the Gypsies have gypped us. Too many have come here as false refugees. And they come here to gyp us again, to rob us blind as they have done in Europe for centuries.” At the time, he said “the Gypsies aren’t a race, they aren’t a religion, they aren’t a linguistic group. They’re the medieval prototype of the Occupy Wall Street movement – a shiftless group of hoboes who doesn’t believe in property rights for themselves – they’re nomads – or for others. They rob people blind.”
