Two French compatriots, Paul-Henri Mathieu and Michael Llodra will face each other in the second round at the 2013 Swiss Indoors Basel Open on Thursday.

Mathieu has won his opening round match against young American Denis Kudla in straight sets with 6-4, 7-5.  Mathieu owns a fair record of playing on indoor hard court this year as he is 2-3 in major events and 12-4 in qualifiers and challengers.  His is also in fine form currently and has won 7 matches out of his last 10 plays.

On the other hand, 55^th ranked Michael Llodra beat Richard Gasquet in straight sets of the opening round match with 6-4, 6-2. Gasquet remained unable to break Llodra’s dominance throughout the match.  Llodra has been brilliant this year on indoor hard courts as he is 11-4 on the surface.

Both Mathieu and Llodra had faced each other four times before and the series between them is tied at 2-2. However, the last time both players met, Llodra won the match held in 2009 at Marseille where Llodra cruised to straight sets 6-3, 7-6 victory.

According to the predictions, Michael Llodra is more likely to win the fixture in straight sets.
