He defeats Wolramans in straight sets to reach quarter-finals

After posting an impressive victory over top seed and defending champion Feliciano Lopez in the first round, Frank Dancevic (Niagara Falls, ON) continued his run at the SA Tennis Open in Johannesburg, South Africa On Thursday, he defeated local favourite Fritz Wolramans 7-6(4), 6-3. Wolramans, ranked no. 261 in the world, benefited from a wildcard into the main draw. With the win, Dancevic has reached the quarter-finals of an ATP World Tour 250 event for the first time since accomplishing
the feat in Newport last season.

During the match, which lasted 95 minutes, Dancevic won 80% of his first serve points and broke his opponent’s serve on two occasions.

In Friday’s quarter-finals, Dancevic will take on France’s Adrian Mannarino, ranked no. 67 in the world and seeded sixth in the tournament. This will mark the second meeting between the two players with Mannarino winning the first.

Bouchard continues to impress in Australia Eugenie Bouchard (Westmount, QC) remained in Australia following her impressive semifinal showing at the junior Australian Open to compete in a $25,000 Challenger in Burnie. It seems she is awfully comfortable in kangaroo country as she continues to roll, knocking out Russian Daria Gavrilova, the top ranked junior player in the world, 6-1, 6-2 to advance to the semifinals where the 16-year-old will go up against Nastja Kolar of Slovenia.
