Location: ESP Gallery
JOIN US For Our First Limited Artist T-Shirt Series Launch! Clothing Brand Experiment (CBE) has once again collaborated with some local art heroes, this time with a stacked line-up set to launch over the next few months. With only 30 shirts made and individually numbered by each collaborating artist these collectables are destined to be one of Toronto hottest pieces to wear this summer. The first two artist lines are set for their debut. Toronto-based Sculpture Susy Oliveira and Illustrator Nik Dudukovic -have both uniquely morphed their work onto each shirt setting them apart from your average screen printed t-shirt. Join us for the first limited artist line launch by Clothing Brand Experiment on Thursday May 10th running 7 to 10pm at ESP Gallery 1086 Queens St W one of Torontos newer galleries showing emerging, talented contemporary artists. Toronto-based Susy Oliveira creates images through a process of re-photographing constructions of both her own images and found material. The constructions are physically manipulated in an attempt to blur photographic notions of the digital by way of mimicking digital effects. ( The work of Nik Dudukovic merges the nostalgia of turn-of-the-century cartoons and illustrations with the familiarity of blemish-free draftsmanship. His characters are compositionally graphic from ten feet away and meticulously detailed from ten inches away, while his design and cohesive technique allow for a fluid – yet selective – narrative to emerge. ( CBE has kept their production locally focused and designed for long-lasting comfort and stylelocally milled, dyed, and pre-washed premium fabrics will leave you impressed from the start. CBE stands out from the rest with a strong sense of artistic risk, well-thought-out designs and a conscious soul in each step of clothing creation
