USC Women's Soccer

As the USC Women’s Soccer team starts the season, the theme of “turning the page” seems an appropriate description for the launch of their 2012 campaign. The last remnants of its championship team graduated last year, which means that head coach Ali Khosroshahin is leading an entirely new group of Lady Trojans. In fact, USC boasts 21 new players on its roster, including 18 freshman, but this is no wide-eyed group. Many of these soccer players have been battled tested and received top state honors during their previous high-school and college experiences. Khosroshahin believes this is his most talented and deepest team ever, anchored by keeper Caroline Stanely, a transfer from Missouri and midfielder Whitney Pitalo of Oregon. Several local prospects also highlight the roster, and there’s no doubt the Lady Trojans will be fired up after seeing former USC alum like Amy Rodriguez bring home the gold in the Summer Olympics.
