From classics hits by the Beach Boys, the Mamas & the Papas Nancy Sinatra and Nat King Cole to the Monkees, Simon and Garfunkel, Bing Crosby, the Carpenters, the Byrds and countless more, a single band performed almost all of those classic backing tracks: a legendary crew of studio musicians known as the Wrecking Crew. Virtually unknown (and uncredited) at the time, the Wrecking Crew has come to be recognized as one of the most talented groups of musicians to ever grace a recording studio. This documentary, simply titled The Wrecking Crew, sheds new light on these little-known heroes behind many of pop and rock music’s most-loved tunes from the ’60s and ’70s. Full of insightful interviews, archival footage and timeless music, The Wrecking Crew has been called “in the league of the best music documentaries ever made” by Vintage Guitar magazine. A Q&A session with some of the film’s stars will follow the screening. And a portion of this screening’s proceeds will go to the non-profit International Documentary Foundation to help fund the film’s eventual commercial release.
