Calgary police are investigating into a report of a 27-year-old woman who claims to have been held captive in a northeast home for almost three weeks. The woman claims to have been physically and sexually assaulted during the time she was held captive. Explaining some insight into the incident, Staff Sgt. Mark Hatchette stated that the woman managed to escape yesterday because “she was able to manipulate the accused and attend a business close by whereby she called 911.”
Consequently, the woman instructed police to a nearby home in Skyview Ranch, where a suspect was questioned and later arrested. So far, police has informed that there are many lose ends in the case, especially the answers to questions like why did no one reported her missing. Neighbor of the house where the women was allegedly confined, Mo Assadi, stated that the whole thing has come as a surprise to him. He mentioned that “last week we heard the music going all night,” and “that was the only time. Usually they are quiet people.”
Police has been informed that the man and woman were in a relationship earlier this year. The suspect in police custody, Troy Lemke, has a very bulky police record as he was charged with breaking and entering, wearing a disguise and using an imitation firearm in an incident in February 2012. Previously in March 2011, he was also charged with possession of a golf club for a dangerous purpose and resisting arrest. Now in this case, Lemke is facing several charges including assault, sexual assault, assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats and forcible confinement.
