Singer Pat Boone was the second biggest charting artist in the late fifties – behind only Elvis Presley. He specialized in cover songs of black R&B artists likeFats Domino and Little Richard. During segregation his versions of “Ain’t That A Shame” and “Long Tall Sally” were huge sellers. Eventually he became religious and sang gospel music and went on to more success on TV and movies. The 78 year old performer bought some Chic-fil-A carry out in Hollywood in apparent support of the CEO’s unpopular stand against gay marriage, while gays protested outside.
