We have seen actors go to any length for their roles, pushing the envelope, going out of their comfort zone and doing what is required of them. This time, it is actress Kriti Sanon who has gone a step further for her character in Bareilly Ki Barfi.
Kriti Sanon has stated that she has always been a non-smoker but the actress had to go against her personality for her forthcoming film. She had to pick up a cigarette for her role, as the script demanded so. Owing to her commitment to her character, she did not once hesitate to go ahead and do this, even though it was obviously not in her comfort zone.
The actress had earlier never even tried smoking in real life, but she just did it a couple of times only on camera for a particular scene in Bareilly Ki Barfi which required her to do it. Kriti confirms and shares, “I was always a non-smoker and I continue to be. I only picked up the cigarette because my character demanded me to.” From what we hear, Kriti plays the role of a liberated, modern Indian woman in the film.
Directed by Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, Bareilly Ki Barfi also stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Rajkummar Rao in lead roles. The film is slated to release on July 21 this year.
