Why Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s daughter used to hate Salman Khan11

Salman Khan has an immense fan following across moviegoers of all ages. His rapport with the kids is especially very endearing and as a result, his fan following among the little one is always intact. In this regard, Nawazuddin Siddiqui has made some interesting remarks and even narrated an episode in his autobiography ‘An Ordinary Life: A Memoir’ which is surely a must read.

Nawazuddin Siddiqui tells that in 2012, his film Gangs Of Wasseypur had released. The film had caught the attention of the moviegoers and hence, there was quite a buzz. He was the lead in the second part of the film. Hence, his face adorned the posters of the film and one such hoarding was put up at Infiniti Mall at Andheri, Mumbai. Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s daughter Shora was then 2 years old. She happened to see the poster and she got overjoyed on seeing her father’s face on it. The actor then writes that there are times when they especially drove past that hoarding simply because Shora used to get enchanted by it.

Soon however, the billboard of Gangs Of Wasseypur was replaced by that of Ek Tha Tiger, that featured Salman Khan. Little Shora failed to understand that the shelf life of poster is very less. She began to hate Salman Khan and she saw him as a mean guy who had ripped off her father’s poster and replaced it with his own. Later, whenever she happened to spot any photograph of Salman Khan, she used to slap him hard!

Two years Kick released that featured Salman Khan in the lead and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the baddie. Shora’s anger grew manifold after seeing this film. After all, the same guy who had apparently torn her father’s poster now killed his father in the film in a brutal way! A few months later, Nawazuddin Siddiqui began shooting for Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which also starred Salman Khan. Once when the filming was going on at YRF Studios, Shora came to meet her father. And, Nawazuddin writes, “My driver Ashok took her to meet Salman Khan. She came face-to-face with her arch enemy for the first time”! Shora got quiet on seeing Salman. But Salman Khan simply came and hugged her. In a jiffy, she became very fond of him and all the anger she had for more than two years evaporated!

While concluding about this episode, Nawazuddin in his book writes, “Ask children who their favourite film star is and the most common answer you’ll get is Salman Khan. There is indeed something special about Salman – children are drawn to him by some inexplicable magical force.”
