“Reema, who has co-written the film with Zoya Akhtar and has directed Talaash, is amused that outsiders seem to know about the film more than her. There is no similarity whatsoever between Talaash and Kahaani but somehow mischief makers are hell bent on establishing that. She was forthcoming enough to tell everyone who cared to ask that the two films were dissimilar. Still, there are some out there who are unwilling to carry the right side of affairs. They are happy to build their own assumptions and spread false stories”, says a friend of the director.
No one associated with Talaash is overtly disturbed though with such loose talk and is just letting it pass by as yet another piece of gossip that comes in and then disappears in a jiffy. Also, the makers are of a strong view that the moment film’s promotional campaign kick-starts and newer visuals are revealed, all such comparisons with Kahaani would become a story of the past.
Says Reema, “Talaash is a totally original film and it is surprising that comparisons are being made with Kahaani. When someone called to ask me about this first, I clearly stated that there was no truth to it. However, it seems people only wanted to highlight the gossip part and in the process the real truth was lost somewhere.”
She reiterates that the delay was due to Aamir’s show and there is no other reason. “In fact Talaash is completely ready and its first cut would be seen soon by Aamir. However, contrary to some other rumours floating around, there is no re-shoot happening whatsoever, least of all due to its climax being allegedly similar to that of Kahaani. Puhleeze, it’s all untrue. For the record, Talaash is totally different form Kahaani.”
When contacted, Riteish Sidhwani maintained the stance. He said, “I haven’t seen Kahaani but whatever I have read about it or caught through the promos, it is not at all like Talaash.”
Guess that would finally silence wagging tongues!
