Katrina Kaif flaunts her modern – contemporary dance moves in this ‘Suraiyya’ rehearsal video with Aamir Khan

From ‘Sheila Ki Jawaani’, ‘Chikni Chameli’, ‘Swag Se Swagat’ to ‘Kaala Chashma’, Katrina Kaif has been part of the most iconic songs and ‘Suraiyya’ now becomes part of that list. The song from Thugs of Hindostan was undoubtedly one of the most anticipated given that dancing legend Prabhudeva collaborated with Katrina Kaif for the very first time. And the results were nothing short of spectacular!

Combining old Indian dance forms with intricate contemporary moves, Prabhudeva meticulously worked on the steps that only a brilliant dancer like Katrina Kaif could pull off. The teaser of ‘Suraiyya’ was trending across social media platforms, a huge feat for a mere 45 second glimpse of the song.

She shared a video from the rehearsals and wrote, “When I first saw the choreo for suraiyya, I was like is it jazz, is it ballet, is it folk ,,, but that’s dancing with Prabhudeva … u cannot define his style it’s so unique ,he gives the song such a unique personality with his choreography. He spent a lot of time with me in rehearsals helping me figure the style, I loved it all (apart from a few moments of tears of frustration ☺️)but in the end it was the hook step which we had so much fun with.”

Says Katrina Kaif, “’Suraiyya’ is my most challenging dance number because the beats are fast and the movements fluid. The steps were fantastic but tough.”

All praise for Katrina says Aamir Khan, “I would have not been able to perform the steps had I been rehearsing for 10 years but Katrina managed to pull them off.”

Prabhudheva, who always sets a benchmark in innovative choreography, has worked tirelessly to design this song that combines old Indian dance forms with intricate contemporary moves. The song will see Aamir, dressed as a British captain, having the guts to woo Katrina in front of a room filled with British officers. It is a peppy, humorous song which shows off their fun and teasing chemistry. The song has been composed by the renowned duo Ajay – Atul while Amitabh Bhattacharya has penned its lyrics. Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Dadlani have sung this song that will surely become a chart-buster.

Thugs of Hindostan, is set to release on November 8, a national holiday, in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
