While women like Parineeti Chopra and Paoli Dam have shown that they can be pretty much on the top and come up trumps with films like Ishaqzaade and Hate Story turning out to be mighty successful, Vidya Balan has shown with Kahaani that she is pretty much an industry in herself. Okay, so Karisma Kapoor didn't quite ignite fireworks at the box office with Dangerous Ishhq but then there is a whole bunch of women who are out to make a mighty impression with films that have female protagonist as the focal point.

"Much is being read into the month of September being women-packed due to Bipasha Basu, Kareena Kapoor, Preity Zinta, Sridevi and Rani Mukerji arriving with a film each. However, the fun begins much earlier, what with two other high profile debuts of the year. In the months of July and August respectively, the ones who would be vying for all the attention are Sunny Leone and Farah Khan. Also, Chitrangda Singh would be arriving in a tailor-made part. Between the eight of them, expect a lot of fireworks once their films hit the screens", comments an industry veteran.

So while Sunny would be beginning her Bollywood sojourn with an erotica (Jism 2), Farah Khan – who has appeared in a few cameos before and that too as herself – would be going full throttle in a sweet romantic comedy Shirin Farhad Ki Toh Nikal Padi. She would have competition though from Chitrangda Singh whose Kaam-The Unofficial Story releases on the same day as the Sanjay Leela Bhansali production.

Says Farah, "I was quite conscious about turning a heroine with Shirin Farhad….. After all, how can you have someone who is fat and in her 40s as the leading lady? However, Sanjay trusted in me. In fact I was so nervous about even seeing the rushes of the film. All my apprehensions vanished though when Sanjay gave me a nod of approval. Obviously my day was made."

On the other hand, even Sunny is getting similar appreciation from Mahesh Bhatt who is currently with her in Sri Lanka even as the shoot of Jism 2 is on. With daily updates being shared by Bhatt on Twitter, it is clear that he wants to be a star-maker all over again. Now that is something that has already been accomplished by Sudhir Mishra who has ensured that Hazaaron Khwaishen Aisi wasn't really a flash in the pan. After Yeh Saali Zindagi, he has given Chitrangda Singh a central part in Kaam – The Unofficial Story as well.

Says Chitrangda, "Yes, this has turned out to be a really intense film on sexual harassment at workplace. If the characterization itself is quite tough to begin with, what makes it further challenging is the fact that Sudhir Mishra doesn't settle for anything less than excellent."

Kareena Sridevi Bipasha Rani Preity Chitrangda Farah Sunny make 2012 red hot Same can be expected from Madhur Bhandarkar as well who knows a thing or two about extracting a terrific performance from his female actors. After ensuring that actresses like Tabu (Page 3), Raveena Tandon (Satta), Konkona Sen (Page 3) and Priyanka Chopra (Fashion) managed to gain awards at the highest platforms, Madhur has now apparently promised Kareena Kapoor that an award is in the offering for Heroine.

"Well, Heroine is the kind of film that would showcase Kareena in an altogether different light. This is the kind of character that you get to play only once in your career. With the script being so powerful, Kareena is all set to shock many out there", declares Bhandarkar.

Though Vikram Bhatt is not making any such bold declarations, he is promising an overall package in the form of Raaz 3 which has Bipasha Basu sharing screen-space with Emraan Hashmi.

"She was good in Raaz and now ten years down the line with Raaz 3, she has obviously matured further as an actress. We have been good friends all these years and never lost touch. With Raaz 3, it is pretty much a homecoming for both of us. As for Esha, she is a clear star in the making", says Vikram.

It is a homecoming of sorts for Sridevi as well who would be making a comeback with English Vinglish. A bitter-sweet comedy, it promises to be a worthy enough project for Sridevi to show the current generation what she is made. However, she would be challenged on the very day of its release by Preity Zinta who too is on a comeback mode with Ishkq In Paris. Though rumours were floating around her thinking of a different date of her arrival due to Sridevi coming alongside her, Preity has confirmed that she has no such plans.

The one has been quite silent on this front though is Rani Mukerji. Even though her Aiyya is slated to arrive in September, she has been quietly watching all the drama unfold from a distance. Perhaps she would strike when her competition would be least expecting it from her. Now that would indeed be an exciting sight for sure.
