The much talked about ISRO moon mission witnessed Chandrayaan 2 set off on its journey to the moon at 2.43pm IST from Sriharikota on July 22. But, days after much anticipation, the communication with the Chandrayaan 2 lander ‘Vikram’ was lost, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) said. India's ambitious second lunar mission Chandrayaan 2 was expected to make its landing on the surface of the moon but the communication was lost seconds before its landing at 1:55 am.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the ISRO scientists from the mission control room after the mission was failed. "There are ups and downs in life. This is not a small achievement. The nation is proud of you. You all have done a big service to nation, science and mankind. I am with you all the way, move forward bravely," PM Modi said. On Saturday morning, he said, “We came very close but we will need to cover more ground. The best is yet to come… India is with you.”

ISRO Chief K Sivan broke down this morning and was consoled by PM Modi. The heartwarming gesture my PM was touching as Indians applauded ISRO for their hard work and determination. Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express hope and lauded their hard work. They even said that ISRO will make it happen the next time. Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn among others send out messages to ISRO.

There’s no science without experiment…sometimes we succeed, sometimes we learn. Salute to the brilliant minds of @isro, we are proud and confident #Chandrayaan2 will make way for #Chandrayaan3 soon. We will rise again.

Sometimes we don’t land or arrive at the destination we want to. The important thing is we took off and had the Hope and Belief we can. Our current situation is never and not our final destination. That always comes in time and belief! Proud of #ISRO
