Fighting plastic pollution is not just about cleaning beaches and banning plastic bags, it is also about the little things. Dia Mirza, Actor, Producer, UN Environment Goodwill Ambassador & United Nations Secretary General Advocate for Sustainable Development Goals has started carrying her own meals on flights – this means not only is her food healthier than the inflight option but it is also stored in a non-plastic container.
Airlines invariably use plastic to store and serve food. Last year, the Global campaign BeatPlasticPollution initiated by the UN Environment program that was spearheaded by Dia in India led PM Modi to make a historic declaration to make India single-use plastic free by 2022.
Dia, who is also a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocate is definitely someone who not only walks her talk
but also 'flies' her talk too.
