Aishwarya to get second highest French civilian honour

Three years ago in 2009, Aishwarya Rai was felicitated with the Officer Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Order of Arts and Letters), the second highest French civilian honour by the French government. However, the actress denied accepting the honour as her father had taken ill. Later, the French government postponed the investiture ceremony in deference to the victims of the Mumbai bomb blasts.

However, now three years later, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be receiving the award on her birthday November 1. Celebrating this achievement the entire Bachchan parivar will be jetting to the city to accompany bahu dearest as she receives this long overdue honour.

Apart from Aishwarya others who have been honoured with the award include Shah Rukh Khan and Hollywood actors George Clooney and Meryl Streep, while Ash still remains as the youngest to be conferred with this honour.
