In the times when a single screening of an Indian film in a foreign land makes big news, Saif Ali Khan has managed something far more upbeat for a film of his. Cocktail, his biggest solo success till date that had released last year, has now managed to explore a Russian market for itself. In fact the film has been playing there for close to 50 days now and raking in good moolah.

Informs our source, "Cocktail released last month in Kazakhstan and was dubbed in to Russian and Kazak language. It is doing very well there. Soon the film would also release in Kyrgyzstan and other CIS countries."

A romcom music drama that starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty in principle roles, the film has been released on as huge as 19 screens in Kazakhstan and still drawing packed houses. Despite releasing 9 months after its mainstream release, the film is being pitched in the CIS markets as a global film coming out of India which is language independent.

"Looking at the fantastic response though, we are now planning to bring more films into the Russian market," says Kumar Ahuja, President Business Development – Eros, "Cocktail has been a fantastic start for us; people out there seem to have really loved the film's theme and presentation which has a global theme."

Incidentally, even though the film's dialogues have been dubbed in the local languages, the chartbuster score by Pritam and Irshad Kamil has been retained in Hindi.

Buzz is that Eros has plans to release some of the other catalogue films like Zindagi Naa Milegi Dobara, Student of the Year, Vicky Donor and Desi Boyz too in CIS in weeks to come. However the real surprise is the demand that has come their way for Ram Gopal Varma's Bhoot Returns which would is making its way to Russian as well.

"Yes, that's true," smiles Kumar, "They have a huge demand for 3D films there. In fact Haunted – 3D too was a good success when it was released in CIS. We are looking forward to the response that Bhoot Returns enjoys now."

Meanwhile there are a couple of prominent films featuring a young superstar which would be making its way to the Russian market as well, announcement around which would be made soon. Till then it is Saif who continues to serve his Cocktail and woo the audience there.
