Superb response to Katti Batti has been an emotional moment for me - Imran Khan

Imran Khan is a happy man. Over one and a half years after he was last seen in Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, he is returning to the big screen with Katti Batti. If reactions to the Nikhil Advani directed film, which has Kangna Ranaut as the leading lady opposite him, are anything to go by, he can pretty much be assured of embracing the success that was always there for the taking.

"Well, the reactions are of course positive and heartening. Personally for me though, it is more of an emotional moment to see the manner in which feedback is pouring. It is less than 24 hours since the promo was unveiled and the messages and calls haven't stopped," gleams Imran, who is of course ecstatic to be back in the thick of things.

After Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbaai Dobaara and Gori Tere Pyaar Mein, two distinct films, Imran decided to go overtly selective and in the process signed only one film, Katti Batti.

"I have given more than a year to the film and all of us have made it with so much of love that it is showing in the promo. I am glad that people are seeing it as much more than what just the promo has indicated. We didn't want to give away the entire plot," says Imran.

Considering the fact that the film is three months away (it releases on 18th September), this makes sense as well. What is also sensible is to see Imran stepping into a (rom-com) zone which has fetched him some of his biggest successes (Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Naa, I Hate Luv Storys, Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu).

"But then, Katti Batti is not a rom-com at all," protests Imran, "In fact, it is a hardcore love story. Pyaar ki kahaani hai, so, let us give it all the love and affection it deserves."

If audience response is anything to go so far, this seems like pretty much on the cards.
