However, his ardent devotees, even today raise an objection over content that demean or degrade the reputation of the 'godman'. Recently, Welcome Back played it safe by chopping off a dialogue on Asaram Bapu.

The dialogue in question is, 'Andhera bahut hai Bhai, goggle utaar de warna izzat ka Asaram ho jayega'. Apparently, when the followers of Asaram became aware of it, they immediately contacted the production house and asked the makers to remove it. Director of the film, Anees Bazmee mentioned that even before the release of the film, they had decided to do away with the dialogue and added that the producers did receive a few calls from followers who were raising objection to it.

The dialogue writer of Welcome Back, Raj Shandilya, however, claimed that it was just a dialogue for the promo and it wasn't a part of the film. On the other hand, contradicting Raj's statements, the actor who mouthed the dialogue in the film, Aslam Khan (who plays the role of John's buddy), stated that he had indeed said the dialogue for the film but it later mysteriously disappeared. When questioned, he was been told that the dialogue was receiving many objections and in order to play it safe, the makers decided to chop off the entire dialogue instead of replacing just a word.
