Anas Adan Farah and Christon Arman Johnson arrested for carjacking

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests made in a carjacking investigation.

On Sunday, April 17, 2022, police responded to a robbery call in the Queensway and The West Mall area.

It is alleged that:

  • the victim was sitting in a parked vehicle
  • a dark grey sedan pulled up and blocked the victim’s vehicle from leaving
  • a man exited the vehicle and approached the victim
  • the man produced a handgun, pointed it at the victim and demanded their keys
  • the victim exited the vehicle and fled the area
  • the man entered the vehicle and drove it away with the grey sedan following

On Monday, May 16, 2022, police responded to a robbery call in The Queensway and Islington Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

  • two victims were getting into a parked vehicle
  • a black Honda Civic pulled up and blocked the victim’s vehicle from leaving
  • two men exited the Honda Civic, armed with handguns
  • the men approached the victims and demanded their keys
  • a third man exited the Honda Civic, armed with a knife
  • the third man pointed the knife at one of the victim’s, demanding their cell phone
  • the men took the victim’s car keys and cellphone
  • two of the men entered the victim’s vehicle and drove it from the scene
  • the third man returned to the Honda Civic and fled the scene

Members of the Hold Up Squad commenced an investigation and were able to identify two of the suspects involved.

On Wednesday, March 8, 2023, members of the Hold Up Squad, with the assistance of 23 Division’s Major Crime Unit, executed two Criminal Code Search Warrants in relation to the investigation. During the execution of the search warrants, the two men were located and taken into custody.

It is further alleged that:

  • at the time of the search, officers recovered items of evidentiary value related to the investigation

Christon Arman Johnson, 24, of Brampton, was charged with:

  1. two counts of Robbery With a Firearm
  2. two counts of Disguise with Intent
  3. two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order

He was scheduled to appear before the courts at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 10 a.m., in room 206.

Anas Adan Farah, 21, of Toronto, was charged with:

  1. Robbery with a Firearm
  2. Disguise with Intent

He was scheduled to appear before the courts at the Toronto Regional Bail Centre, 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at 10 a.m., in room 206.

One unidentified male suspect is still outstanding and is described as black, wearing dark clothing and a mask.  He is to be considered armed and dangerous.

The stolen vehicle obtained in the April 17, 2022 carjacking; a 2-door white 2020 Audi R8 with the Ontario licence plate CKJD307, remains outstanding.

The stolen vehicle obtained in the May 16, 2022 carjacking; a black 2021 Land Rover, has been recovered.
