London’s ‘Nour Festival’: Programme Now Available

The program for London’s fifth annual “Nour Festival” is now online. The events, which focus on the Middle East,  take place across Kensington and Chelsea:

According to organizers, “Nour Festival looks to inspire, and be inspired by, these reflections across all art forms and through all types of cultural expression: from film and food, via drama and dance, to painting and poetry.”

Literary events include:

The Storytelling Circle, which includes Moroccan and Persian tales as well as poetry by Fathieh Saudi. Wednesdays.

House of My Father, a new play by Carmen Nasr, which “asks how far people will go to preserve a sense of normality in the face of unimaginable chaos. While war rages in the streets of a divided Beirut, a family refuses to abandon their home as they await the return of their father.” Nov. 2.

Arab Science Fiction: From Imagination to Innovation, with a panel chaired by Samira Ahmed, which will discuss “new perspectives on whether nurturing creativity through Science Fiction could be more crucial to our global progress than we might realise.” Nov. 15. 

Readings from Syria Speaks. Syrian poet Golan Haji and authors Robin Yassin Kassab and Zaher Omareen will read from a selection of the book’s poetry, fast-fiction, reportage, oral testimony and memoir. Nov. 18.
