Hindus have offered condolences on the death of His Eminence Cardinal Jozef Glemp, who headed the Poland’s influential Roman Catholic Church for more than two decades, on January 23 in Warsaw (Poland) hospital.

Distinguished Hindu statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, said that they were saddened by the passing of Cardinal Glemp, 83, highly influential leader of Polish Roman Catholic Church of his time.

Glemp might have made some controversial decisions and remarks but he also tried to reduce mistrust among communities and oversaw the Church in a highly difficult and critical period, Rajan Zed, who is President of Universal Society of Hinduism, added.

Glemp reportedly served as primate of Poland for 28 years and President of the Episcopal Conference of Poland for 23 years.
