The Netherlands has seventeen new Michelin starred restaurants
The Michelin stars were awarded this afternoon in Amsterdam. The result is considerably better than in previous years: last year there were ten new restaurants with a star, and the year before that there were eight. A total of 103 restaurants in the Netherlands now have one star and twenty have two.
Vinkeles in Amsterdam Receives a Second Michelin Star
Vinkeles in Amsterdam is the only restaurant this year to be awarded a second Michelin star. Chef Jurgen van der Zalm is praised for his “classic craftsmanship in the form of stunning sauces and playful creativity”.
Two Restaurants Retain Their Three Michelin Stars
The two three-starred restaurants, De Librije in Zwolle and Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, retain their stars. They also remain the only two restaurants in the Netherlands with the highest distinction. “We no longer need to imagine the personality and creativity of these chefs. Their individuality as cooks is an example for everyone in the profession,” says Michelin about the two chefs, Jonnie Boer and Jannis Brevet.
Green Stars Awarded for Sustainable Restaurants
