Traffic disrupted by climate activists

Climate activists from Letzte Generation caused great disturbance in the German capital by blocking traffic in more than thirty places in Berlin this morning. The group’s members form part of the global movement calling upon governments to implement radical measures to combat climate change.

Activists glued to the road

Several activists glued themselves to the road causing major traffic jams on the ring road around Berlin. In addition to the obstruction caused by glued members, activists standing in the street, holding banners and shouting slogans also hindered traffic in various other locations.

City brought to a standstill

Letzte Generation kept up with their promises to “bring the city to a standstill so that the government moves.” The operation in more than thirty locations in the city was mainly concluded during the morning, but not before causing significant inconvenience to road users.

Berlin ‘lame’

The activist group from Letzte Generation has been campaigning for the German government to introduce drastic measures to combat climate change. The group asserts that Germany should end the use of fossil fuels by no later than 2030 and that there should be a maximum road speed of 100 kilometers per hour. According to the group’s activists, there should be an actionable plan to keep the temperature rise below 1.5 degrees. However, the government’s lack of action on this issue continues to inspire the group’s disruptive acts.

Call for action to address climate change

Letzte Generation’s actions reflect a growing global concern about the lack of progress on tackling climate change. If left unaddressed, climate change is poised to cause widespread environmental and economic devastation. Governments around the world are under increased pressure from climate activists to take more radical measures to curb greenhouse gas emissions and move towards the development of sustainable, renewable energy systems.
