Canada Express Entry record set

Today, the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted the seventh Express Entry draw of 2023, where 7,000 candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 490 were invited. This number of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) surpasses the previous record of 5,500 candidates invited in the last all-program draw held on January 18, where candidates from all three Express Entry programs, including the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), were considered.

In the past two months, program-specific draws have been held, with four rounds of invitations, three for PNP-only, and one for FSWP candidates since the last all-program draw. The most recent draw on March 1 was PNP-only, where only 697 candidates received ITAs. This draw breaks the pattern of program-specific draws.

Previously, all Express Entry draws between July and November 2022 were all-program draws that invited over 1,000 candidates each time and grew as the minimum CRS score decreased.

A recent report from IRCC summarized Express Entry data for 2021, where there were no all-program draws, and all 42 draws were program-specific for the PNP and the CEC. The majority of the 114,431 ITAs issued in 2021 were given to recipients between the ages of 20-29 years, and the top five nationalities were Canada, India, Nigeria, USA, and People’s Republic of China.
