Costa Titch South African rapper dead at 28
Costa Titch, a 28-year-old South African rapper, passed away, his family confirmed on Sunday. The news came after unverified videos surfaced online showing the rapper collapsing twice while performing at a music festival. The family released a statement on Costa Titch’s Instagram account, expressing their grief and thanking emergency responders and those present during his final moments. The cause of his death was not revealed.
Several videos of the incident have been circulating on social media. In one of the videos, an unidentified man on stage helps Costa Titch up after he appears to slump forward while performing. However, moments later, he collapses again.
The Ultra Music Festival in Nasrec, where the rapper was scheduled to perform, expressed devastation at the news of his death. They did not provide any details on how he died.
Fans and fellow artists have expressed their condolences over the loss of Costa Titch, a talented rapper, dancer, songwriter, and collaborator. Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr., also known as Da L.E.S., tweeted his condolences, saying “RIP Costa Titch. Great talent gone too soon.” The Southern African Music Rights Organization also offered heartfelt condolences to Costa Titch’s family.
This is the second high-profile death in South Africa’s rap scene in recent weeks, following the shooting of Kiernan Forbes, also known as AKA, outside a restaurant in Durban. AKA and Costa Titch had released an album together in 2021.
