Dylan Cutting Edge Box Set Deep Dives Like A Rolling Stone

By Stephen Pate – Bob Dylan’s seminal classic “Like a Rolling Stone” started as 10 to 20 pages of “vomit” according to Dylan biographer Clinton Heylin. By the time Dylan hit the studio in 1965 to record it, it had condensed to 4 verses and a chorus, still a 6 minute opus unlike anything rock and roll had seen.

The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: The Bootleg Series, Vol.12 (Deluxe Edition) dedicates 20 tracks of the 3rd CD to showing how the song evolved in the studio.

The Cutting Edge 1965-1966: Bootleg Series Vol. 12 this year’s version of the annual “all-the-Bob-Dylan-you-can-listen-to” arrives on November 6th, 2015. Links to pre-order from Amazon in the US and the UK are embedded in this story.

We don’t have any details on the ultimate 18 CD collectors version for the most obsessive Dylan. Obviously listening to outtakes and alternate versions is something less than entertaining. However, many Dylan fans will want more than the basic 2 CD version.
