The Magwi County Commissioner Peter Ochilo Bongomin has been sacked.

Bongomin has been out of office from 12 November following his sacking by the Eastern Equatoria State Governor Louis Lobong Lojore.

“In exercise of powers conferred upon me under article 152 subsection 1 of the Interim Constitution of Eastern Equatoria State 2008, I, Brigadier General Louis Lobong Lojore, Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, do hereby decree the relieve of comrade Peter Ochilo Bongomin as the Commissioner of Magwi County with effect from 12th November 201”, reads part of the Governor’s decree.

The Governor commended the outgoing County Commissioner for diligently serving the county during his tenure.

The reason behind Bongoman’s sacking has not yet been revealed as the State Governor is currently attending the Governor’s Forum in Juba.

His replacement has also not been identified.

However, observers have attributed the sacking to recent clashes between the Acholi and Madi ethnic communities over land and border disputes, which Bongoman has consistently failed to address.
