Western Bahr el Ghazal State (WBGS) Governor, Hon. Rizik Zackaria Hassan addressed a public rally of thousands of civilians at the Raga freedom square yesterday.
Governor Hassan’s visit to Raga County comes following the recent Sudan forces bombardments carried out in the Country’s border territory of Kafia Kenji and Hufra Nahas.
While speaking at the rally, Hassan warned the neighbouring State Governor of Darfur’s to stop deploying their army to South Sudan’s territory.
“We will not respond militarily but we have to deploy our forces to be vigilant and protect the civilians and our territory,” Hassan told the rally.
Hassan also shared the political border conflict conference meeting organized by the Raga County officials last weekend on insecurity in the region caused by the Sudan Armed Forces.
The conference focused on the tactics to bring an end to the Sudan’s armed attacks along the border.
The Conference has recommended the UN to help in overseeing the demarcation of the South Sudan and Sudan’ borders network peacefully.The conference was attended by 150 chiefs from the 3 Counties of WBGS.
Hassan urged the Civilians to be alert on the border issues and to report any people committing crimes against humanity. He also called on the community to take advantage of communication among them and the SPLA forces in order to get protection and quick respond from the forces.
In a separate matter, Hassan urged the entire community to cooperate with their commissioner in order to boost development in the County.
He also pointed out that the State government was planning to highlight the provision of services to the communities across the three Counties in the State.
Hassan called on the community to enhance their efforts on agriculture in order to reduce the food insecurity.
The Governor is expected to visit SPLA forces camp in Raga County along the borders.
