The department of co-curricular in the Northern Bahr El Ghazal State (NBGS) Ministry of General Education and Instruction have organized a teachers’ training program in various sporting activities at the Teachers Training College (TTC) in Aweil town.
The South Sudan Police Band curtain raised the event while playing the South Sudan National Anthem at Aweil Freedom Square.
The occasion was organized by the National Ministry of Education, Science & Technology (MoEST) to enhance “delivery of services to the communities in 100 days” as promised by H.E President Salva Kiir Mayardit after the formation of his government early August this year.
While speaking at Aweil Freedom Square, the NBGS Minister of Education, Science & Technology Mr. Stephen Chol Ajonga reminded the citizens of both Aweil and Wau Counties of the importance of sports in the new Republic of South Sudan. “Sports are a source of economic income and a solution to tribal conflicts in various States.”
Since the purpose of the training was to create room for sporting activities in all South Sudanese Schools, the State Ministry of Education Science & Technology of Northern Bahr el Ghazal invited selected teams from schools in Western Bahr El Ghazal State which played with the El Mereikh team of Aweil town.
The match ended with El Mereikh emerging victorious where they beat Wau joint schools teams by 3-1.
