Police authorities arrest a 27-year-old in Reiger Park on East Rand on Friday. The arrest was made a little while after the Thursday night shooting in Cosmo Street.
Lieutenant Colonel Katleho Mogale informed the media that personal belongings of the arrested man have been taken in custody and he is suspected to be involved in the shooting that took place a day earlier in a gang encounter.
She said, “Immediately after the shooting, the members of the Reiger Park police, Gauteng Flying Squad, Public Order Policing and Ekurhuleni Metro police embarked on a manhunt to locate the suspects. The intensive manhunt yielded results when a 27-year-old suspect was arrested at Cosmo Street. Police confiscated his cell phone as well as the vehicle that was used in the commission of the crime”.
Furthermore she said that more searches have also been conducted to find out other suspects involved in the incident. According to the formal report by police, Johnny Jacobs, 47, was sitting in a car with his girlfriend in Popcorn Valley, where they were parked outside the house of his girlfriend. Another car approached their car and the four people in the car got out and shot at the couple in the car.
Jacobs died on the spot whereas the girl friend was serious hurt and is admitted in the hospital.
