The South Sudanese government has directed road construction and rehabilitation firms in Jonglei State to fasten the process before the onset of rains.

The South Sudan Minister of Roads and Bridges Gier Chuang Aluong who visited the Jonglei State capital Bor revealed that the central government has grand plans to expand the road network in the country.

He said the Bor-Juba road will be top priority as it is a major link between the state and the South Sudanese capital.

“The purpose of my visit is to bet firsthand experience of the state of roads in Jonglei State and the main challenges so that relevant action can be taken on addressing the poor infrastructure”, he said.

He was met by the State Minister of Physical Infrastructure Manawa Peter Gatkuoth, who said massive road construction has commenced in the state in a bid to connect the payams with the state capital Bor.
